Performance and Talent

As mentioned on the 'Performance and Conduct' page there are a number of "environmental" factors which can have a significant impact on employee performance.

Of course from the perspective of maximising the organisation's performance overall, its ability to find, nurture and develop talent is the other major dimension that needs to be considered.

This means that once talent has been recruited into the business, an organisation that aspires to deliver high performance and to exceed customer expectations needs to provide the right environment develop these capabilities.

In concrete terms this means:

  • Interesting and challenging work
  • A realistic, transparent career structure with opportunities for progression
  • Wider development opportunities
  • Learning and development resources & support
  • Employees taking responsibility for their own development
  • Managers with the capability and the knowledge required to develop talent and enhance performance
  • A system and/or process that meets the twin demands of helping managers and employees to enhance performance, and provides the senior executives with the information they need to assess organisational capability and manage resources at the strategic level.
